Biography

From a very young age singing has been Avril’s passion. Since she began formal classical singing training at the age of eight she became a regular prize-winner at festivals and féiseanna across Ireland.

 

Formerly a Riverdance vocal soloist, Avril has toured with ‘Riverdance - The Show’ in many of Europe’s great theatres and arenas. One of the most memorable performances was singing at home with the Riverdance Choir at the Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics in Croke Park in 2003.

 

Avril was a member of the choral group Anuna. At aged 18 she was lucky to travel to Norway with them to record a TV special with the group Secret Garden. That same year saw her being chosen to play the lead role as Ms Sarah Browne in the musical ‘Guys and Dolls’ with Avonmore Musical Society.

 

Avril regularly performs at many concerts and events. Among the venues she’s been honoured to perform in at home in Ireland are the Mansion House and The National Concert Hall in Dublin. She had the privilege of working on the hit BBC show Ballykissangel as a voice-over artist recording her vocals in Ardmore Studios. Avril’s performances have been featured on RTÉ Radio 1, East Coast Radio and New York-based station Radio Irish.

 

 

 

Avril has studied in National University of Ireland Maynooth, Trinity College Dublin and Hibernia College where she was conferred with a BA Honours Degree (Specialising in Vocal Performance) and two honours postgraduate diplomas in education. Avril now passes on her passion for and knowledge of music and singing to children. As part of her teaching she has co-produced school musicals and concerts, managed school orchestra and has conducted her girls’ choirs to prize-winning success.

 

Avril was frequently a soloist in her University’s Choral Society concerts directed by Professor Gerard Gillen. She is also a keen violinist who has been a member of school and university orchestras. She has completed all her classical grades with honours from Trinity College of Music London.

 

Avril specialises in the performance of Irish melodies and sacred music. She also enjoys performing many classical styles of song. Avril continues to develop her vocal technique with her good friend, the renowned vocal coach, Ann-Marie O Sullivan.

 

Avril O’ Toole’s beautiful debut album ‘Irish Dreams’ is the realisation of a dream. She performs with the Moldovan Symphony Orchestra. All songs are arranged and produced by the renowned Frank McNamara of The Irish Tenors and The Late Late Show fame.
